This week, I’d like to write about the need for love and what love is suppose to be as Paul wrote about in 1 Corinthians 13. Paul tells us in the first few verses that it isn’t enough to just not do bad things but it is also not enough to do good things without love.
“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.” (1 Corinthians 13:1-3)
The key and most important thing is having love. God doesn’t want us to just go through the motions of worship or good works and not have love. We have to do all things in love. Isn’t it actually hypocritical if we go about doing good things but really don’t have love for our fellow man in our hearts? That would be appearing to be one thing on the outside when really on the inside we’re something else.
Are you walking in love today? Do you have love for others? As we go through this week, let’s make sure that everything we are doing is motivated by love. Love for God and love for one another.
