Patient & Kind

How has your day gone today? Have you been walking in love? Remember, Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13 that without love we are nothing. Without love we are not living God’s way. Without love we don’t truly accomplish anything.

We need to know what love looks like if we are going to be able to walk in love. So work on these two parts of love that Paul gives us in 1 Corinthians 13:4, Patience and Kindness.

To love is to be patient with others. We’re going to have differences with others at times. We may get annoyed or frustrated. We may wish they would do things better or in a different way. But if we’re going to love them then we have to be patient with them. Patience is understanding that we’re all human and things aren’t always going to go the way we want them to. Patience is controlling our temper. Patience is helping and not tearing down. Love is patient. Have you been patient with folks this week?

To love is to be kind. Acting in kindness to one another. When we have differences and frustrations are we quick to speak unkindly? Act unkindly? Kindness goes hand in hand with patience. We have to be patient with one another and choose to be kind even when it is difficult. We have to find ways to be kind. We have to do it on purpose. Love is kind. Have you been kind to others this week?

If we are going to walk in love the way God wants us to then we are going to have to be patient and kind. And always remember that God has been patient and kind with us. Love is patient. Love is kind. Be patient. Be kind.
