Not Arrogant or Rude

Love. It is the only way there will be any good in this world. Without love this world is a pretty sad and ugly place. If we don’t have love then we have nothing at all. Love is the answer that will keep us from any and all sin. Love is the only way that is pleasing to God. So if we love God and want to be pleasing to Him then we must love one another.

Love is patient. Love is kind. Love does not envy. Love does not boast. And there are more areas where love needs to be explained. Think about the following:

Love is not arrogant. Arrogance. Arrogance is the love of self, not the love of others. It is being prideful. Being full of one’s self. It is thinking that you are more important than everyone else. It’s all about me. How good I am. How good I look. It is about being number one. That’s not love. Love is about seeing the good in others. Love is seeking the best for others. It is not selfish. It is not only concerned with its own interests. Love does not boast of one’s abilities over that of others. Love does not boast. Love is not arrogant. Don’t be arrogant. Don’t be full of yourself. Love others more than yourself.

Can we say we have love when we’re being rude to others? No. How do we treat people? How do we act around people? Love is not rude. Love does not speak rudely. Love is being polite. Love is being well behaved. Being rude is being uncaring. Inconsiderate. Unpleasant. Crude. Rough. Rudeness does not produce love. How we talk to people, how we interact with them, and how we present ourselves says a lot about us. What do people see? Love? Or rudeness? Love is not rude. Don’t be rude. Think before you speak. Think before you act. Think of others. Treat others how you want to be treated. Be loving. Not rude.

In our relationships and interaction with each other, let’s not carry ourselves in arrogance. That’s not love. Let’s not be rude. That’s not love either. Arrogance and rudeness only produce sadness, disgust, and unfriendliness. Love brings joy, friendship, and togetherness. Choose love.
