Serving God’s Purpose For Me

Today’s Monday. What did you do today? What choices did you make? How did you work today? How did you live? Why did you get out of bed this morning? What are you living for?

We only live once. We only have so many years. Only so many days. So what is the point? Why am I living here on this earth? When we come to know God we come to know the answer. We are here to live for God. We are here for His purpose. We are to be living to fulfill God’s purpose for us. This is our current generation. We are in 2017. It’s going by fast. So how have we been using our God-given time?

I love what is said about David’s life and his death in Acts 13:36. It says: “For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers…” Paul said of David’s life that he served the purpose of God in his own generation. David lived on this earth for a certain period of time. In that time he gave his life to God. He served God. He fulfilled God’s purpose for him. That’s what we should be doing! This is our generation. We are living and breathing. Here. Now. Like David we need to be carrying out God’s purpose for us. Worshiping God. Being zealous for good works. Helping. Loving. Serving. Sharing the good news of salvation. Loving our God and fellow man.

Let’s go to God’s Word and find out what is pleasing to Him every day. His will. His purpose. Then let’s live it. Let’s do it. Let it be said of each and every one of us at the end of our lives that we served the purpose of God in our own generation. So, what did you do today? What will you do tomorrow? You have a purpose. God says so. Live it. Love it. Share it.
