Our Father Loves Us

Parents know how to take care of their children. They will make sure they have food, clothes, bedding, shelter, baths. Parents love their children and will do whatever is necessary to take care of them. Parents take joy in their kids. And children love their parents. They know that their parents will take care of them. Their parents provide all the things they need. Kids go to their parents for food, clothes, baths, etc. Kids trust their parents. Rely on them. Take comfort in them. The parent-child relationship is a strong and wonderful bond.

God wants us to view our relationship with Him in the same way. He is our Father. We are His children. He loves us and we love Him. God wants us to trust Him. To rely on Him. To take comfort and strength in Him. This is the point Jesus was making in Matthew 7:7-11 when He said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Our heavenly Father wants us to go to Him. Ask. Seek. Knock. He’s there. He will provide. He will guide. He will help. We mortal, sinful beings know how to love and adore our children. How much more does our wonderful Almighty Father in Heaven love us!

I am reminded so many times of this very thing. Every time I look at my kids and I think about how much I love them. I will do anything for my children. I will take care of them. I will protect them. I will show them my love. I will hold their little hands. I will kiss their boo-boos. I adore them. It makes me stop and think about how much more my Father in Heaven loves me. How amazing it is that I can be called a child of God. It is a good feeling knowing that He is watching me. Guiding me. Holding my hand. Mending my boo-boos. Loving me. Let’s trust our Father. Let’s love Him more and more. Let’s go to Him with our lives. Give it all to Him. Good and bad. He knows. He cares. He is our Father.
