Walking By Faith: FUTURE GENERATIONS

Parents teach and train their children in hopes that they will grow up to be mature adults with good morals and direction in life. So that they will be able to teach their own kids one day. And then they teach their kids. On and on for many generations to come. Values are passed down. Traditions. Attitudes. Standards. Love. Manners. It is a joy to parents and grandparents to see these things develop in their kids and grandkids.

How important it is for parents to pass on the faith in God that will save their children and grandchildren. The faith that will make them pleasing to God. The faith that they will live by and give their hearts to God in all they do. Abraham and Sarah had great faith. How wonderful it is to see that faith in the lives of their descendants to follow. Look at what the Hebrew writer mentioned in Hebrews 11:20-22. “By faith Isaac invoked future blessings on Jacob and Esau. By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff. By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones.” Isaac had faith. Jacob had faith. Joseph had faith. They looked ahead to the things God promised. They lived their lives for God. The walked by faith.

These three men are examples of faith for our own lives. Not just for us individually but also for instilling faith in future generations. We need to show our kids what faith in God is all about. They need to see it in us. We need to teach them about it and guide them in it. Faith needs to be passed on and on and on. Keep it going. Keep it growing. How great it is when we can all walk in faith together. How great it is for parents to walk in faith with their children. And grandchildren. Faith in Jesus Christ brings life. Pass it on. Walk by faith.
