Jesus’ Parables: A Mustard Seed

The Kingdom of Heaven, how great it is. Our God is awesome. His love and power are awesome. His kingdom is awesome. Jesus came to establish that kingdom. Jesus came preaching the good news of the kingdom. Part of that preaching included various parables He used to paint pictures in the minds and hearts of His hearers about the kingdom.

Look at this picture Jesus shared in Matthew 13:31-32, “He put another parable before them, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.'”

The Gospel of Christ and His church, the kingdom of heaven may have had a “small” start but it has grown so great all over the world. God’s kingdom is larger than anything. It is eternal. It cannot be shaken. The world will be destroyed but the kingdom of heaven will remain forever. There is life. Blessing. Hope. Souls flock to Christ to make their home with God. What a beautiful image of birds making nests and homes in the tree branches. Safe and warm. Think of the safety and warmth there is in the Lord for all His children.

Let’s make sure we are part of His kingdom. Let’s make sure we are building our nests, our lives in the branches of the Lord’s kingdom. Through Jesus Christ God has called us into His kingdom. He has saved us. He wants to save us and provide us eternal life. What an awesome God we serve! How wonderful His love. How great His power. Blessed be the name of the Lord!
