When you’re in a war you look to your leaders for commands, guidance, and strength. You communicate with them. You need their help. You rely on them. You trust them.
That is no different in our spiritual battle against Satan and sin. We have to communicate with our leader: Almighty God. When we have put on the armor of God Paul then tells as that we need to be “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18). We need to be communicating with God in prayer. Constantly. Persevering. Asking for His help. His guidance. His strength. We cannot fight against evil without God. Not only should we have His Word, we should also be talking to Him in prayer. We also need to be praying for our fellow soldiers, our brethren.
Paul even asked for prayers that he could have boldness. He told them to pray “also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak” (Ephesians 6:19-20). Paul knew and admitted that the battle is hard. The fighting isn’t easy. We’re going to need boldness. Courage. Strength. And we have to go to God in prayer for that.
Pray to God and ask for His guidance. Ask for strength. Pray for boldness. Never stop praying. Trust in God. Rely on Him. He will lead you. He will help you.
