Today is Sunday. The first day of the week. It was on this day that the early disciples of Christ gathered together (Acts 20:7). And so we do likewise today. This is the Lord’s day. It is a day of worship and praise to God. It is also a day we encourage one another in our common faith, hope, and love.
Sunday should be the most important day of our week. It should be the best day of our week. Even our favorite day of the week. Because we get to come into the presence of God and worship Him as His people. And we get to spend this day with the people we love in Christ Jesus.
On this day we remember together the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross by partaking of the Lord’s Supper. It is a time of communion with God and each other. We get to lift our voices in many songs together. We spend time praying together. We take time to study and learn from God’s Word together.
So how do you view Sunday? Is it important to you? Is it a priority for you to be at worship? It should be. Seeing how much God loves us. He sent Jesus to die for us. God has done so much for us. What are we doing for Him? Are we busy doing other things on Sunday? Or do we make it a point to worship the Lord and encourage our brethren and be encouraged ourselves on Sunday? Do not forsake the assembling of ourselves together on Sunday (Hebrews 10:24-25). Make it the most important day of your week. What better way to start each week? Think about it!
